I need a door closer that is able to close a steel door which is 400kg in weight. The door size is w1000mm x h2050mm.
We recommend looking at a Geze TS4000 tandem (power 7-13), or a TS4000 power 5-7, and caution that this door will be very heavy to open. You can buy them online here, follow the links in the text.

Q: I have a door that is a glass panel at the top. The wood above the glass to the door stop is approx 73mm. The door opens outwards. The door is on a warehouse and is used quite a lot by the public. I have brought 2 closers from my local DIY centre but they do not fit due to the narrow bit at the top. What do you recommend?
A: There are two possible solutions; Option 1.) Using a door closer with a Drop Plate, e.g. the Geze TS2000NVBC (which is a really good mid-range, mid-price model) – the drop plate (shown above) allows the body to be set lower … Continue reading

Q: I am looking for a door opening rate, and travel extent, restrainer to limit the RATE at which the wind could snatch an outward opening patio door. Closing force should be low or zero. Do any door closers do this? Could any be mounted in reverse to achieve this?
A: What you’re looking for is a “back check” door closer”. This feature dampens or brakes the opening, as well as controlling the close as a normal door closer. You can look at the TS2000NVBC or the TS4000 which comes … Continue reading

Q: Could you provide adjustment instructions for your medium/heavy duty fire door closure. Unit is 9″+. Not sure if it’s working or not?
A: We think you may be describing a Geze TS2000 door closer, the body of which is 226mm long (9″ = 229mm). You can see some fitting and adjusting information on the pdfs at the bottom of the web page … Continue reading

Q: Recommend a door closer suitable for fitting to a PVC Front door? Fed up with kids slamming the door every time. Door opens inwards.
A: When choosing a door closer for a uPVC door, similar criteria apply to when choosing for a timber door; how wide is the door? What is its function? etc. We suggest selecting a door closer which has an optional … Continue reading

Q: What does “back check” mean on heavy duty door closers?
A: “Back Check” stops the door slamming open; two examples:- on an external door in a windy location back check prevents the wind from “picking up” and opening the door (which might damage the frame at the hinges); or when … Continue reading
